POCSO Awareness Programme
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 is a special law enacted by the Government of India to protect children below the age of 18 from sexual abuse, harassment, and exploitation. Children are among the most vulnerable members of society, and the POCSO Act provides a strong legal framework to ensure their safety, dignity, and rights. The Act defines various forms of sexual offenses, ensures gender-neutral protection, mandates child-friendly procedures, and makes reporting of offenses compulsory. It also emphasizes confidentiality of the child’s identity, speedy trials, and rehabilitation support for victims. Awareness of this law among educators is crucial, as teachers play a frontline role in identifying, preventing, and responding to child abuse.
Project Objectives
To educate school teachers and staff about the provisions, importance, and legal implications of the POCSO Act
To promote the creation of a safe and child-friendly school environment
